What is UCHM?

United Churches Healing Ministry was formed by local Christian people to offer a Counselling Service, Counsellor Training and be a Resource centre for the local community.  We are based in Milnsbridge, approximately 3 miles from Huddersfield town centre.  The centre is usually staffed between 9:15am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, but appointments can be made outside of these times to suit your needs.

We are a Registered Charity formed in 1992 to further the availability of affordable counselling. We are affiliated to BACP & ACC and work according to the BACP Ethical Framework.  We are a BACP Accredited Counselling Service.

Objectives of the Charity

  • To promote and protect the good mental health of people resident in the United Kingdom, in particular in the county of West Yorkshire, by the provision of a Christian counselling service.
  • To advance education by providing facilities for the training of Christian Counsellors.
  • To promote good standards in pastoral care for the advancement of the Christian Faith throughout the United Kingdom, with regard but not restricted to, the county of West Yorkshire.

Counselling Service

We offer Counselling to anyone aged over 16 in need, you do not need to be Christian.  Our counselling can help you work through difficulties such as mental, emotional and physical illnesses, bereavement and loss, depression and low self esteem.  All our counsellors are either ACC or BACP accredited, or are in training for accreditation.

Counsellor Training

We also have our own counsellor training programme to train Christians to be counsellors.  We run three courses, Foundation Christian Counselling Level 2, Intermediate Certificate in Counselling Level 3, and the two year Advanced Diploma in Counselling Level 4.

We also offer Continuing Professional Development in a wide range of subjects, at reasonable prices, for counsellors looking for training in specific subjects, and a pastoral care programme, for those who want to help people, but who don’t want to be counsellors.
