Diversity and Equality Policy

UCHM will take appropriate and reasonable steps to remove all barriers and obstacles to such equal opportunities.

UCHM is committed to enabling high quality counselling services to be accessible to people from all walks of life.

UCHM will promote non-discriminatory practice, to stop all forms of racism, sexism and negative perceptions of disability from occurring in any part of its work or service.

UCHM is committed to providing an environment to service users and workers that promotes dignity and respect to all. No form of intimidation, bullying or harassment will be tolerated.

UCHM will endeavour to ensure that no persons involved in its work and service, are required to endure any conditions or requirements that contravene appropriate equal opportunities legislation.

In relation to its workers UCHM will:

  • Treat all workers fairly and equally, whether part time, full time, temporary or voluntary.
  • Help and encourage all workers to develop to their full potential, and the talents and resources of the workforce will be fully utilised to maximise the efficiency of the service. Selection, promotion, training or any other benefit will be on the basis of aptitude and ability.
  •  Breaches of our diversity and equality policy will be regarded as misconduct and could lead to disciplinary proceedings.

The policy will be monitored and reviewed annually.
