Hello, and a little about myself.
My background is in Social Care and Adult Mental Health, which I worked in for 30 years.
I am a registered member of BACP. It is my pleasure to be the CEO of UCHM, to help people who require counselling and help in their lives. I have been married for over 39 years and have 3 grandchildren.
When I have chance I enjoy going on holidays and spend time with family.
I sincerely hope this website gives you an insight into the work of UCHM, and the help which is available for you in times of need.
Hello, a little bit about myself.
I am passionate about counselling, mental health and relationships. I hold a current DBS and I am a registered member of BACP.
I have specialist training with working with gambling addictions, and working working closely with adults with learning difficulties.
I have a varied social and family life and enjoy meeting with friends for social activities.
Chair of Trustees
I was born in Scarborough and came over to Huddersfield to train as a nurse. I began counselling in 1985.
My journey with UCHM really started before it was formed, as I was one of the founder members with Helga Taylor. As time passed I oversaw the Counselling side of UCHM, and was heavily involved with clinical supervision. I accredited as a counsellor and supervisor with ACC. and then for the last 17 years with BACP, while for the last 12 years this was as senior accredited counsellor and supervisor.
My main role has been as Head of Counselling / Director, then taking over as CEO when Helga retired in 2017.
I retired from clinical work in December 2018, and as CEO in July 2019. I had been Company Secretary of the Trust since 1992, and became Chair of the Trust when Joan Church retired.
My other great passion (from which I have not retired !!) is taking pilgrimage groups to Israel.
PGD Counselling & Psychotherapy,
Certificate in Counselling.
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist accredited with BACP, with experience of working with young people and adults with a variety of issues including depression, trauma, self harming, grief and attachment disorders.
There are a vast range of people supporting the Counselling and Educational training of UCHM and Trinity Training. From counsellors to those who work behind the scenes supporting the development of courses, administration and everything in between to ensure we meet the professional standards to which UCHM has been associated with over many years.
